A Capital Face? Definitely – Rio, raised in Peckham, is rightly regarded as one of the best centre-backs England has ever produced. Despite winning pretty much everything as a player, Rio has experienced much loss and pain in his lifetime – and this, I believe, is etched on his face.
I had the pleasure to meet him this week – we’re planning a commercial film shoot, and its going to be a fun one. He seems well up for it, and it wont be easy on anyone involved – so its always a positive sign when your main protagonist is on board, and as excited about it as you are. A true gent – I was glad I got to meet him.
This image was part of a set we took for a casting, quickly snapped off in the space of about 2 minutes. You never get long with a footy player (now pundit), but I got to talk to him about the state of the game, Nando’s, films (he is very much in to docs and movies), Arsenal, LeBron etc… top man.
Shot on the X-Pro 1, 56mm 1.2 APD, 3200ISO in natural light. Astia JPEG converted to mono in Lightroom.
