Baking Hot Pride.

I had a hunch that this years Gay Pride would be a good un’…not only was London’s long awaited summer due to appear, but this years march coincided beautifully with the landmark decision from over the pond to legalize same sex marriage. Not that it wasn’t expected, but still, a nice touch.

Last year’s event was marred by TORRENTIAL rain, but this allowed me free reign to shoot wherever I wanted and really enjoy the spectacle. This year I saw practically nothing of the parade (zillions of people) but this allowed me to shoot the onlookers which frankly, was way more fun. Lots of happy faces, larger than life characters, and lots of glorious sunshine. Awesome.

There was conflict too, of course. Not everyone was getting in to the spirit – and it wasn’t all good natured either. But when it got down to it, it was all a numbers game. There were way more happy gays than disgruntled Christians (who both had every right to air their views after all – this isn’t Russia) but I wouldn’t expect anyone there to ‘ungay’ themselves due to someone waving a bible…
